About CEJISS

Welcome to the Central European Journal of International and Security Studies' (CEJISS) website. CEJISS was formally launched in January 2007, as an academic journal in the English language. CEJISS is designed as a bridge between Central European international relations and security perspectives with other regions, and as a means of providing fresh insights to the ever changing international relations and security environment. To those ends, CEJISS attracts authors from around the world and insists on doing its utmost to distribute hard-copies to all interested parties while keeping the CEJISS website up-dated with the most current issues in international relations.

In these pages you will find important information regarding the structure of CEJISS, how to contribute articles, contact information, upcoming events and recent and archived research on a variety of international relations and security themes. CEJISS welcomes you to peruse these pages, freely download CEJISS articles, and generally participate in CEJISS activities.

CEJISS aims to breathe some fresh air into the field of international relations and security. This is achieved by providing a forum for young and more experienced scholars, irrespective of their political leanings, to submit contributions. While some journals tend to select contributions according to the political orientation of the article (and author), or the methodological approach advanced, here at CEJISS there are no such biases. We encourage free-thinking and seek contributions of most methodological approaches from a variety of scholars, at the beginning or conclusion of their careers.

CEJISS looks forward to cooperating with you in the near future.

Editor’s Note

The Idea of Europe

Europe has evolved beyond a simple geographic location; it is more than a set of institutions or a common economic area. Instead, Europe is a pervasive Idea based on notions of citizenship (re: political and social inclusion), human rights and justice, shared economic growth and prosperity and responsibility.
